Kia Awarded Top Spot for Highest Dependability Rating in JD Power Latest Vehicle Dependability Study for Mass Market Brands.
JD Power has just released their annual Dependability awards that measure vehicle reliability. This study is based on 3-year-old vehicles, and JD Power gets responses from over 80,000 vehicle owners. They study the number of problems and the type of problems that owners experienced. Kia was awarded the top spot for mass market vehicles, with Lexus taking the top spot for Luxury vehicles.
We spoke with Bill Gibb, the Dealer Principal at Kia of Attleboro. “Although Kia has been #1 for 5 years in a row of IQS scores (initial quality Survey), this award is for three-year-old vehicles, so it’s more indicative of actual ownership experience.” He said. “ Kia’s commitment to building the highest -quality vehicles is evidenced by their annual results in the IQS survey and now in the Vehicle Dependability Study.”
He added “When you look at the Korean brands, and especially the mass-market brands of Hyundai and Kia, you find that the quality has steadily been increasing. Not only that, but their commitment to design and safety is unprecedented. Their designers came from the top of the German auto industry, and were leaders at companies like Bentley and Audi. And their safety systems allow these brands to have more top safety pick and top safety pick plus ratings than nearly any other brand.”
